    Traces – Témoin d’un passage

    Exhibition, discussion, documentary

After forty years of dancing—and working to consolidate, promote, and extend its reach to young audiences—Félicette Chazerand takes a look back at her artistic career. A documentary, an exhibition, and a series of performances trace her past and look ahead to the challenges of tomorrow and the momentum of the next generation.

What can the archives still tell us ? The subheading chosen by the choreographer reflects her musings. Made up of explorations and excavations, permeated with nature and poetry, driven by body and spirit. Her knowledge and longstanding practice of movement serve as documentary material. At the heart of the event, the film is accompanied by an exhibition – photos, objects, video clips –, a discussion, and impromptu dance. Its key concepts are complicity and continuity. “If you don’t just treat a story as finished, but instead continue it, that’s a vital movement”, explains Félicette Chazerand. “That’s where I get my strength now.” When “the productive body is no longer on the agenda”, there remains ‘time regained’, energy renewed, transmission. Because a professional journey like hers, which has formed so many others, is extended over the generations with fertile ramifications.
