Ouvrir le Tuning Score
As part of the event Lisa Nelson – Danser, une façon de voir (8–17 October 2026, Paris & Brussels), Contredanse and Atelier de Paris present a public opening evening around the Tuning Scores and the publication of Lisa Nelson’s book Vivre dans la composition – De la danse comme façon de voir, une introduction aux Tuning Scores [Living in Composition – On Dance as a Way of Seeing, an Introduction to the Tuning Scores], published by Éditions Contredanse.
This evening marks the public opening of the event in Paris. It is composed of two distinct and complementary parts.
Un Observatoire
Un Observatoire is the opening to the public of an improvisation practice. It is not a performance in the usual sense of the term, but a shared moment in which one can see a dance in the making. Audients are invited to witness the play of their own imaginations—to note their own desires—while being privy to the decisions dancers confront in navigating their physicality and making a dance together.
With Baptiste Andrien, Stéphanie Auberville, Franck Beaubois, Claude Boillet, Florence Corin, Pascale Gille, and Lisa Nelson.
Lisa Nelson – Contexte historique et présentation du livre
Lisa Nelson retraces the historical context in which her research has developed since the 1970s, from her early experiments in New York to the elaboration of the Tuning Scores as they are practiced today around the world. This presentation is also an opportunity to celebrate the publication of her book Living in Composition – On Dance as a Way of Seeing, an Introduction to the Tuning Scores, published by Éditions Contredanse. The conversation takes place in the presence of Aude Fondard, one of the translators of the book.
With Lisa Nelson, Baptiste Andrien and Florence Corin (Contredanse), and Aude Fondard (translator).
