Ouvrir le Tuning Score
As part of the event Lisa Nelson – Danser, une façon de voir (8–17 October 2026, Paris & Brussels), La Raffinerie, Charleroi danse, hosts the first public evening of the Brussels programme, featuring an Observatory and a presentation of Lisa Nelson’s book by the author herself.
This evening marks the public opening of the event in Brussels. It is composed of two distinct yet complementary parts.
Un Observatoire
Un Observatoire is the public opening of an improvisational practice. It is not a performance in the conventional sense, but rather a shared moment in which audiences witness a dance as it comes into being. Audients are invited to witness the play of their own imaginations—to note their own desires—while being privy to the decisions dancers confront in navigating their physicality and making a dance together.
With Baptiste Andrien, Stéphanie Auberville, Franck Beaubois, Claude Boillet, Florence Corin, Pascale Gille, Lisa Nelson, and Scott Smith.
Lisa Nelson – Contexte historique et présentation du livre
Lisa Nelson reflects on the historical context in which her research has evolved since the 1970s, from her earliest experiments in New York to the development of the Tuning Scores as they are practised around the world today. This presentation also celebrates the publication of her book Living in Composition: Dance as a Way of Seeing – An Introduction to the Tuning Scores, published by Éditions Contredanse.
With Lisa Nelson, Baptiste Andrien, and Florence Corin (Contredanse).
The evening concludes with drinks and a video game salon, where visitors can explore the digital tools developed around this publication and the Tuning Scores.
