Hubert Godard
For many years, Hubert Godard has been researching the inner workings of human movement.
An injury prematurely interrupted his dance career, leading him to question the body. He studied various approaches to body awareness, including Moshe Feldenkrais, Frederick Matthias Alexander, Joseph Pilates and Ida Rolf.
He is a member of the international Rolfing/Structural Integration faculty, providing individual sessions and teaching in the various fields of somatic techniques. He headed the dance movement analysis teacher training sector at the CND in Paris, and co-founded the dance department at Paris 8 University with Michel Bernard. A rehabilitation researcher and trainer, he has collaborated with Italy’s National Cancer Research Institute. The sum total of his research and teaching is an original synthesis in which practice remains intimately bound up with reflection that is constantly revitalized by the evolution of knowledge, combining biomechanics with body techniques, psychology and the aesthetics of human expressivity.
In 2021, in collaboration with Charlotte Hess and Claudia Righini, he will publish “Une respiration“, published by Contredanse Editions, translated in English as “A Breath” by Sally Gardner. A booklet recounting a session during which he shares with a patient his lively approach to breathing.
