On the Edge – Créateurs de l’imprévu examines dance improvisation as a form of performance. This book brings together fourteen conversations conducted informally by Agnès Benoit with dancers/improvisers.

These artists, most of them teachers, have contributed to the development of contemporary dance. They look back on their careers and share the challenges of their work processes: between choreographic writing and instantaneous composition, awareness of the moment, responsibility for what is shown, relationship to context, self-censorship, habit and the desire to explore unknown situations.
